Mary Tipton

Mary Tipton is a forth-year doctoral student at The Catholic University of America in Clinical Psychology. She is also a graduate research asssistant and teaching assist at Catholic. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park with a minor in Human Development. Before starting graduate school, Mary spent two years working at the National Institute of Mental Health researching suicide risk screening and assessment tools for medical settings. Her current research interests include the effectiveness and efficacy of suicide-specific interventions for youth and adults. Mary's therapeutic approach involves prioritizing patient-identified goals of treatment while integrating effective psychological interventions. She has training in cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and acceptance and commitment approaches. She has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, counseling, and outpatient community health centers with children, adolescents, and adults. Her goal is to provide a collaborative therapeutic space to develop an understanding of your strengths and abilities to manage life's challenges
