Maiko Callister
I am a former educator: a special education and general education teacher at Ballou High School in DCPS, a student teacher at Cardozo High School (before it became Cardozo Education Campus), also in DCPS, and an instructional assistant at Mount Vernon Center, an emotional disabilities center at Mount Vernon High School in Fairfax County. I also worked as a clinical case manager at Community Connections, a mental health agency in DC. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Social Work at the Catholic University of America. Previously, I was a clinical counseling intern at Maya Angelou Public Charter School, an alternative high school. This year, I am honored to support the children and adolescents in DC as a social work intern at MGUH WISE. My clinical interests are grief and trauma, trauma-focused interventions, and serving adolescents.
